United Healthcare Choice Plus-Revision

Has anyone had United Healthcare approve a revision from lapband to VSG.   I am on my second lapband.   Had 2 slips with the first one and now the second one slipped after 10 months.   I want a revision to VSG.   I tried to get approval for the VSG before I got my second band and was denied saying UHC didnt cover due to the procedure being experimental and investigational.  I know more insurance companies are starting to cover now.   I'm going to try with them again for a revision to VSG, if they wont approve that, might have to go with RNY..  I know there are a lot of different kinds of UHC  policies, but would just like to know if anyone else has had them cover a revision.

I just found an article online from April 2010 that UHC and Aetna are now covering VSG.   So, if I can get them to approve a revision, I should be able to get VSG.   Yeah!!!

You will have to meet all the usual requirements such as a BMI of 35/40, etc. but it should be covered unless your policy only allows one WLS type per lifetime. Many ins co's are going that route. They'll pay for 20 bands but not a revision. Makes no sense.
