UHC Choice Plus Plan in Georgia
Hello everyone!!!
We have UHC Choice Plus. We have obesity coverage, yet when you look under Proceedures and Treatments, Surgical and Non Surgical are listed as EXCLUSIONS! What should I do, is this my Bright Red Stop Sign or do I still file? My BMI is 47.1, I have arthritis, palpatations, and numbness and pain in my hand and right arm. I am 29 with 4 children and I am very worn. Please any advise will be greatly appreciated.

If it is excluded there is nothing you can do. It requires a rider and special premium paid by the employer for all employees. Your ins offers it, apparently the employer did not buy the rider.Your choices are work for someone else or self pay. :o(
Not only that but if they don't support the surgery for obesity there is always a chance that it can be done to treat the other issues like hypertension, high cholesterol, NAFLD, and other comorbidities. It depends on how it is filed.
Never give up and file it anyway, despite the denial there are ways to get it approved.

Yes, it is true. Most obese folks have high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. If it is excluded it is excluded. Doesn't matter if you are having the surgery for weight loss or a reduction in blood sugar. Excluded means excluded.
