Benefits/Financing Question

 Hi All ~

I work for a company the has WLS benefits excluded from our coverage. So from my understanding, that is pretty much a non-option. I was just wondering how the majority of people pay for their surgeries? I sometimes feel like the only one who works for a bunch of creeps who doesn’t cover this. Do people take out loans? Borrow money? Change jobs? I am just kind of curious. I have hit a brick wall and feel like I was thrown out of the race before I even got a chance to warm up.

Any information, suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am so upset and feel so defeated, I just do not know what to do.

Thanks ~

WLS benefits are an additional premium for the employer. Times are tough and people are trying to save money. :o( Actually, most people who have insurance do not have WLS benefits.

I was lucky that I did not need to finance my surgeries, I just took it out of my husbands bank account. ;o) But some people go through a medical loan company such as MedChoice Financial, some try for bank loans but that doesn't usually work because banks want collateral. Credit unions are good for surgery loans.

Some people get $ from their 401K, some borrow from friends/family, people do all kinds of things.

You can change jobs for a company that provides WLS, you could get a part time job at Starbucks, they cover it.

I would really encourage you to consider Mexico if you end up self pay, it's soooo much cheaper. I did it for my band and my revision to a sleeve. It is quite safe *IF* you do your research. VSG in Mexico is great.
