VSG at Darnall Ft. Hood, TX?

New here everyone, just wanted to know if anyone here knows anything about Darnall on Ft Hood, TX offering VSG? I've been going through all appts for WLS but can only get the gbp or lap band. I'm sure they worked well with those who's gotten them but I don't want to have either one. Just need to know if anyone has gotten the vsg at Darnall?

Sorry forgot to add I have Tricare Prime.
Also has anyone had the vsg surgery via bariatric center in Killeen, TX?

As far as I know, VSG is not approved by Tricare period. I believe the only WLS covered is RNY (open or lap) and the Lap Band.  I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure I learned this in seminar when we went over insurance information. You could always call Tricare directly and find out! Good luck, we just PCS'ed  from Hood back in August and we are NOT missing it, haha.

On some MTF's you can get the vsg totally paid for if they offer it. I hadn't heard from anyone getting it on Ft. Hood. Is there anyone else on Ft. Hood or the surrounding area that know if they offer vsg? I would love to find out. Not to deal with Tricare and all their different post would be great!

I just went to a bariatric meeting at Darnall today at 500pm
starting on april 12 ,2010 they will now be offered the
gastric sleeve at ft hood

WOW! CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME MORE. I AM IN THE PROCESS ALREADY AND NOT SURE HOW I CAN GO FROM DRS @ SCOTT & WHITE TO DARNALL PHYSICIANS! TRICARE IS DENYING BEFORE I EVEN ASK. BUT TO MY UNDERSTANDING A MTF DOESN'T GO THROUGH TRICARE AT ALL SO IT WOULD BE COVERED!
DO YOU KNOW THE DR OR ANY INFO ON HOW LONG OR HOW MANY VSG'S HAS BEEN PERFORMED? SORRY FOR SO MANY QUESTIONS, JUST EXCITED TO HEAR THIS INFO!

i WAS GOING FOR MY APPOINTMENTS AND EVERYTHING THRU DARNALL BUT, YESTERDAY I GOT MY REFFERAL LETTER TO START AT SCOTT AND WHITE

I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HAVE U DONE SO FAR AT SCOTT AND WHITE

I DID MY PSYCH EVALUATION TODAY AT DR COFIELDS OFFICE AND I ALRDY WENT TO SEMINAR FOR DARNALL THAT IS HOW I FOUND OUT THAT THEY ARE DOING VSG THE SURGEON THAT SPOKE AT THE DARNALL SEMINAR SAID STARTING ON APRIL 12 THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PERFORM THAT SURGERY AND GET IT PAID WITH TRICARE

CAN U PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE PROCESS IS FOR GETTING SURGERY DONE AT SCOTT AND WHITE I AM BARLEY GOING TO GO TO THE SEMINAR ON THURSDAY 04/01  TO HAVE SURGERY DONE THERE I WANTD TO KNOW IF IT WILL BE FASTER AT DARNALL OR SCOTT AND WHITE.....
RIGHT NOW IN DARNALL THEY HAVE A WATING LIST FOR LAP BAND AND GASTRIC BY PASS BUT, NO WAITING LIST FOR VSG  THE SURGEON SAID THEY WERE CALLING SOME PEOPLE ON THE WAIT LIST FOR THE LAP BAND TO SEE IF THEY WANTED TO HAVE THE
VSG BUT, THE SURGEON CALLING THEM HAS NEVER DONE VSG ON SOMEONE THIS IS GOING TO BE HIS FIRST TIME.

AT S&W I HAVE ONLY GOTTEN TWO CONSULTS 1) TALK TO NURSE ABOUT MYSELF, WHICH SURGERY INTERESTED IN, AND WEIGHT, HEIGHT, GOING OVER BMI AND CO-MORBS ETC... 2) PULMONARY CONSULT TO SEE IF I HAVE SLEEP APNEA AND I DO. 3) LIFE STYLE CHANGES CLASS. MY NEXT APPT. IS IN A MONTH (BECAUSE I HAVE TO ACTUALLY USE  THE CPAP MACHINE, FOR THE SLEEP APNEA, FOR AT LEAST A MONTH) AND THEN I WILL CONTINUE MY JOURNEY. NOT TOO SURE WHAT IS NEXT. 
EVERYONE THERE SEEMS REALLY HELPFUL. I THINK YOU WILL LIKE IT, I DO. HOPE I ANSWERED YOUR QUESTIONS.

do they test everyone for sleep apnea or did u have  other issues
that lead them to give u the cpap machine....i am hoping they don't take tooo long for surgery
at darnall i just had to do a class seminar and then do psych evaluation and now just wait for surgery date  but, i was hoping to have at done at scott and white i am just scared that it will take tooo long.

At my initial consult I told the nurse that I felt like every day was just a continual day and that is why I was referred to pulmonary for a sleep study. So no, everyone doesn't have to have the sleep study done. But they said if my body get's enough rest, by using the cpap machine, it will work better and therefore  it can lose weight better (which makes since). Also they found out I quit breathing 5.5 times an hour, Wow! but they said that was mild.
Also I keep having to push my appts. back to make sure my  children are taken care of. In fact my f/u was just pushed back 3wks. But i'm trying to take up a little time because I want the sleeve and Tricare Prime isn't funding yet and I don't think I want to be experimented on @ Darnall just yet. I'm just a little desparate not a lot.
