Needing Guidance
Okay, I have UHC and had surgery in Dec. My husband is interested in WLS surgery, but his insurance (Humana) has an exclusion. I was thinking of putting him on my insurance next time open enrollment comes around. However, there is nothing we can do to cancel his insurance through his work. It is paid in full and automatic. The company is in the Netherlands. UHC SHBP states that UHC has to be the primary insurance to cover the procedure. Any ideas on how I can make sure UHC is his primary insurance?
Also, the exclusion for Humana states "obesity, including morbid obesity." What if he is super morbidly obese? Could that be a loophole?

I had the same problem. My insurance did not cover any type of bateric surgery, so when we had open enrollment I dropped my insurance with my company and told them why and I got on my husband insurance which would pay for my surgery and it did, and when the next year came and we had open enrollment I got back on my insurance and I still have my husband insurance.. It took a while, but it was well worth it.. Just wanted to share that with you...
