UPDATE 2/26 Trying to get in process for approval
Finally after 4 trys the insurance company has my file and it is in process for approval! They said it can take up to 30 business days. But to check back in 15 if I haven't heard anything by then.
I am just happy at this point that it is IN PROCESS!
I am so frustrated and need to vent to those who may understand.
Okay my plan says I meet criteria and it is covered. I have gone through all the "hoops" they require. So 6 weeks ago my surgeons office submitted all the paperwork for processing. 3 weeks later we checked to see where the claim was and they show no record of it (even though it was faxed at the same time the EGD claim was and they have approved it). So the surgeons office submitted it again using the info they were given to get it to the right department. They said to give it at least 48 hours to get into med review. So I called last Wed. and still nothing is being processed and they deny having it. A discussion about what could be happening included them telling me that if my ID # was not on the cover sheet it would get tossed. They won't contact the surgeons office to tell them they couldn't accept it, they won't try to identify the claim by the name, they won't look past the cover sheet at the actual claim form; they just throw it out. After telling her what great customer service they were giving I called the surgeon's office. They submitted it again last Thursday using the various information I had been given. Today I called the insurance company--still no claim in process! I contacted the surgeon's office. They are just as frustrated as I am. The office manager contacted the supervisor of the department that handles our group accounts. They were very apologetic and took down the names and conflicting information they had been given. However she refused to insure that the forms submitted today arrived to their proper destination. So Friday the office manage is going to contact them again to see if it is indeed in process this time. I was expecting approval to take awhile and that there may be additional hoops they may request. However, I did not anticipate it taking this long just to get someone to review it. URRRGGGH!
I had hoped to have surgery late March early April. Now it looks like I will be fortunate to have it by Summer.

Hang in there....I'm sure it will get approved since you met criteria and did all the required steps.....What do they say, "Patience is a virtue"....or "Good things come to those who wait"...or, well I don't have another quote, but I can't wait til you post, "I'M APPROVED".
