Hello and glad to be aboard!!!!!!!  I'm in the process of getting approval for the "sleeve".  I have Fed employee BCBS.  They require 40 BMI or 35 with co-morbidities.  My BMI is 38 and I've been diagnosed with hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), Impaired Fasting Glucose (pre-diabetes) w/family history of diabetes, and PCOS.  I'm wondering if anyone has had success with being approved by their insurance with such conditions as co-morbidities.  Thanks for your comments.

 Hi,

Let me know what you find out.  My BMI is 38, I have the same insurance, but really no co-mobidities.  I meet with surgeon on Monday.

Good Luck!

The hyperlipidemia would likely be the one to do it.  Pre diabetes, family history, and PCOS won't.

When I was married to my husband (divorced 2009)we had government employees, and when I was approved in 2004, my only comorbid was high cholesterol, and I had bmi of 40 then and was approved based on that.  Good luck

I miss the coverage believe me. LOL

Aloha Lynette,
I am in the process of an appeal with my medical co. Blue Cross, I too had a BMI of 38.1 with type 2 diabetes on oral and injectable meds, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and also a few other conditions, but was denied coverage due to the fact that my diabetes is not severe enough????? I hope the best for you, I'll cross my fingers that you won't have to go thru all these red tapes that I now do. Please keep me posted...
