Can you transfer an approval?

Hi I am waiting on a call back to find out the answer to this but figured I'd ask on here also...
Has anyone transferred an approval from Aetna to a different surgeon? Or is it possible?
I have gone through everything to get the approval and 2days before my scheduled surgery my Dr cancels due to not being able to perform surgeries at the hosp anymore?! I have no clue what is going on with my surgeon or his practice, but I'm not liking it and would like to switch. I just dont have the time or money to have to go thru the whole process again with a different surgeon when I have already done so with this one.
I have tried to call my current surgeons office ( to no avail..the office has been closed with no return date for 2weeks now) to see if they will give me all my paperwork they used to submit to insurance so that I can bring it to a different surgeon, I just dont know if another surgeon can submit it as their own info.
Any info or suggestions helpful! Thank You!

Sure, but the thing is you need to obtain all the records from your current surgeon and they aren't available.

I would call the Ins co and sweet talk them into giving you a copy of what they have.  It may be enough for your new surgeon.  Just explain that your doc's office is MIA for an unknown # of days and you need your records.  Be sweet, beg, plead your case, appeal to their sensitive side.

Does anyone else have a copy of everything?  A PCP?  Anyone?

Thanks for the info! No one has all the info except for my surgeons office. I'm going to make a call over there again and see if I can talk the answering service into finding someone to contact me asap.. Good idea on calling the ins and asking! I'm still trying to find a new surgeon that will not make me start from square one..this is proving challenging also!

I would contact the Insurance Co also, ask them about getting copies of the info from your Dr office. If you are able to get it then I would contact the new Drs and let them know that you have all the test results etc that are required for your Ins and explain the situation to them.

I sure hope everything works out for you! Praying that you didnt give any deductible or anything up front to the MIA Dr.!!!
Keep a smile on your face....it makes people wonder what you are up to!
