Tricare Standard

Hi, I have Tricare standard and I live in Ohio.  I was wondering if anyone could tell me about how long they take to come back with an approval for WLS? Thanks for your help!

My Mother had Tricare standard when she had RNY. Now....this was in 2004.....and she is not in Ohio.....but it was approved. I believe it took a little bit over a year.

Most of this was due to her surgeon....and what he required.

It absolutely can be approved. I had mine through Tricare Prime.....and it took me 8 months for approval....again....most of it due to my surgeon.

I do know that with Tricare Standard they *seem* to deny the first time.....but....with an appeal....will often approve it.
