Please help... how do I GAIN weight?

I kind of hate that I'm in this position, but I need to gain 3-5 pounds by Monday in order for my insurance company to approve me for their bariatric surgery program.  I was told this in sort of a roundabout way by the administrator I spoke with - she wanted me to get my height & weight rechecked since I am right on the border of what they will approve.

This really kind of sucks since I've been pretty good the last few weeks about eating better and exercising, and I feel like I have to undo all of that now, at least temporarily.

So my plan is to drink as much water as I can hold right before I get weighed, and stop taking my diuretic meds and eat as much salt as I can this weekend.  Also eat a lot of protein, since I feel like it will stick around longer... after that I don't know.  Pockets full of change?

Anybody have any advice?  I know this is kind of gross and really unhealthy in the short term, but it could save me in the long term.

Thanks!

I would say that its unsafe and unhealthy for you to try to gain that weight before Monday!

Get some ankle weights and just make sure you wear pants.  Put some rolls of quarters in your pockets, and i herd somebody on another board say, to put tiny sand bags in your bra!  (If your female!!!)

Good luck!!!

I totally agree - this feels really unhealthy, especially since I have been really motivated to work out this weekend but I don't want to lose any weight.  I will make up for it right after the weigh in. :)

Thanks for the suggestions - I think my plan will be to wear ankle weights and just slam as much H2O as I can right before I weigh in.  I'll let y'all know how it went.

I went in for my height/weight check, and found out that the last time I was measured they listed my height as a full inch taller than what I really am.  Not sure how that happened, but it got fixed.

I ended up wearing the weights and drinking 32 oz (about 2 pounds) of water right before I went in.  I was above what I needed, so I'm pretty sure that this hurdle has been jumped.  Yay!

Now I just have to wait for an answer.  The rep. said she'd check my chart tomorrow, so we will see!

I was going to suggest lots of ice cream, but glad to hear the water worked!
