Anyone know if Medicaid will pay???

I am just wondering if anyone has tried either successfully or unsuccessfully to get State Medicaid to pay for any Bariatric Surgery?
I am in GA and because I have Medicaid, doctors that do not accept Medicaid will not deal with me and I am referred to doctors that accept Medicaid. I have been told several times by several people that Medicaid will NOT cover AT ALL... I am just wondering if anyone knows anything about Medicaid and Weight Loss Surgery.

I don't have Medicaid but on each of the state forums there are green "sticky" posts that have a list of surgeons who take medicare and maybe medicaid? Do a search for the Georgia forum and see what they have there.

I had ins though the state and they paid for my surgery so i dont see why they wont pay for yous good luck honey/

I see you've added me as a friend, please read my blogs.  Medicaid DOES pay.  I had Peachstate and they paid.  I know that Wellcare did not and Amerigroup had a bunch of hoops to jump through.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Good Luck!

i am in florida............. and my medicaid IS paying!!!!! get letters from all ur doctors, write out a diet plan that u have tried and failed............ all of them, for the past 5 years if u can.    mine paid.      find a hospital that is a "center of excellence', go to their website, and find out who their bariatric surgeons are.      call them, find out who takes ur ins.   good luk!!!

Hi I just got GA medicad in january and began my search for a bariatric surgeon that would accept it with the help of my cousin I found peachtree surgical bariatric at atlanta mcal center they except amerigroup and peachstate which are medicaid HMO's I hope this helps you in your journey Good Luck
