Self pay VSG and Insurance Hiatal Hernia anyone?
I'm sure I'll have to have my hiatal hernia repaired when I have the VSG. Problem is, I will self pay the VSG, but I think my insurance would cover the hernia repair. Has anyone else encountered this? Would insurance deny the hiatal hernia repair since it's being done in conjunction with WLS that insurance doesn't cover?
Wanda, I think it should. For plastics they said they will do the part insurance does not cover then start the clock and time and document for the second part that insurance does cover to bill accordingly> Guess its up to your insurance and your surgeon, I would also double check with the billing office at the hospital so they can put that in their records or you could be fighting for a long time.
