Question - new year new deductible...

Can someone explain how this will work?

I've met my deductible for this year, but seeing as it's the 30th and no news about approval I've resigned myself to having surgery next year and having to pay more money.

So how will this work?

My plan is Aexcel® Plus Choice POS II (Aetna HealthFund®).  Basically... we start out with $2000 in an account for the family for the year.  Everything is paid out of this first.  Then it looks like we might have a $1000 deductible next year (this year it's $1500 - so at most that's what it will be).  Then I have to pay 10% of the surgery.

Total Annual Deductible:  Family - $3,000 (includes $2,000 funded by employer)

Maximum Out-of-Pocket:  Family Out-of-Pocket Maximum $6,000

So... am I correct to understand that at most my surgery will cost me $6000?  Is the $6000 plus or minus the $2000 in the healthfund?

This type of insurance has always been so confusing to me.  It's been a good plan so far, but confusing.  I'm used to the regular old co-pay and deductible type stuff!

Anyone familiar?

I am pretty sure its minus the $2000 in your health fund!

I am in your same situtation!

My deductible starting on the 1st is, $3500.00 with a $1000.00 in a heath fund, and a $6500.00 out of pocket max.  So according to my insurance, it shouldn't cost me more than 5500 out of pocket!

Hope this helps!!!
