UHC - No Paperwork
What are you experiences with UHC? I have a co-worker who had surgery in march with no approval issues - Dr. office faxed and she was approved within 4 weeks - I waited my 4 weeks and call and they say they have nothing - one area says they received it but the area that actually approves it doesn't see anything - my Dr. office is looking into it and I've called 2 different times with the same ending... it's just very frustrating! I don't want surgery till after Jan anyway so I'm not in a huge rush but still - it would be a great x-mas gift to know...
Hey,
I also have UHC, and haven't had any issues getting approved... It was pretty simple for me, My dr faxed my info, and I was approved with in 2 weeks. I did have to call them alot just to keep me updated, and so THEY know that I was very serious about my WLS... I wanted it recorded in there system that I was very serious about having my WLS, and that if I was denied, I would fight it!
Were you assigned to a case manager?
I have a UHC WLS case manager who took care of everything. I KNOW she was so tired of hearing my voice, but my surgon said, that was a good thing...
If I were you, I would just stay on top of them, and call them twice a day f you have too... Let them know that you are NOT going to back down. Stand your ground... (My aunt used to work for a health insurance co, and she told me "the more you bug the sh*t out of them, the more likely you are to get approved" I am not sure how true that is, but it worked for me!!
Best wished, and good luck on your journey!!!

Yes, try again on Monday! It took a few try's to get somebody that knew what they were talking about, but when I did, it was smooth sailing from there!!! Review is a good thing, if thats what they said! It only took like a few days once it was being review, If you had everything that they asked for, there should be no reason not to approve you!!! :-)
Best wishes on your journey, and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask!
