To Wait or Not to Weight?

I just completed open enrollment for Anthem and chose a better plan with no deductable and $400 limit on in-patient out of pocket. My old plan had a $900 deductable and $1200 max on in-patient procedures. New terms begin Jan 1. Did my pre-approval consults with psych, dietician and exercise phys, but told the insurance gal at surgeon's office to wait to file for approval Jan 1 when new plan kicks in.

I've been having second thoughts though. Not sure how long it will take to heal. I'm a teacher and will be on holiday break in a week. If we went ahead earlier, I might have been having surgery before the new year. But I wanted to save money. Thing is, I'm not sure I'll be approved on either plan. So nervous. Didn't know if I should give it a shot on the old plan just to see if I was approved and then maybe have the surgery and heal over holidays. Or.... wait on new plan, schedule surgery for mid Jan and try to be ready for new semester. I've made the choice to wait of course, but hoping I don't regret it. I really hope I get approved and can do the RNY and be ready for Spring semester. BMI 40.5 but no co-morbidities.
