Care Credit and other self pay options

I am up against a bit of a hurdle here...I was originally scheduled for RNY next Weds (12/16) but found out officially on Friday that the hospital will not set up a payment plan of any kind and expect to have the full 15K paid in full 5 days prior to the surgery.  I am looking into anything that I can to get this taken care of.  I am ok with waiting until next year if needed just to get everything set up and processed in a way that makes sense, but just wondered if anyone has any advice on using Care Credit or other options to get the money financed.  I know there are a ton of companies out there offering to loan you money but my credit is less than stellar so I wanted to find out what anyone knows about this.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hey girl - I got your message, but saw you had posted this, so I wanted to reply here, about the Care Credit.

I used Care Credit for my lasik procedure a few years ago and it was wonderful.  I had less than great credit at the time, but did get approved for the surgery amount, and was able to break it up into interest free payments.

Good luck - sorry you hit this snag.  Did BCBS fall through for you?

*hugs*

Thanks!

It wasn't BCBS that fell through on me, they were actually not involved in the approval process, it was my corporate that determined if I was approved.  It's just that my surgeon's office is so un-practiced with self pay patients - we didn't know until last week that i would need 100% paid in full ahead of the surgery so we just put it on the books and that's when I found out.

Anyway, I ran into CareCredit last night and thought I would check into it.  It seems legit but there are others out there too.  I appreciate the follow up - I think I will check into it.

I'll keep you posted for sure...thanks!!!

Is $15K your total cost for the procedure?

I would try www.medchoicefinancial.com

Right now you have to have a credit score of about 700 before anyone will loan you money.  MOST of the surgery finance companies have gone bankrupt due to the economy and they are getting really strict about who they will loan money to.  It's almost impossible to get a bank loan for surgery.

Hi Jessica, is 15k the cost of the complete RNY Surgery package (pre-ops,hospital, surgeon & team & all)?

If that is true, it is a great price for a self pay gastric bypass!

If you can share more about the hospital/Doctor it would be great.

Thanks
