Out of Network!

So I received a call from my surgeon that he is out of network for me. The reason I am using this doctor is because my dad had WLS with him in May and is doing great!

Did anyone use an out of network doctor, if so what what your experience? Did it take longer?

Hi Michele,

I don't know what type of insurance you have but I would read what your plan says about going out of network.  Does it cover going out of network? Also, the fee structure.  Does it pay less for out of network vs in network? and then they have what is called Reasonable and customary so you may end up paying even more.

I hope this helps.

Be very careful going out of network.  Get all prices from the doctor in writing.  Fees for everything.  Your doc has no contract with the ins co and they can charge anything they wish.  You just don't want any big surprises after surgery! ;o)
