Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and was told that if I had any questions about insurance I could get some help her.
I have insurance through Assurant Health. Which only excludes dr. visits, or medical visits for weight loss, and after speaking to several people at my insurance weight loss surgery is not a specific exclusion. So my first time I had submited they denied me due to wanted a 6 month supervised diet, and more proof of being over weight for more than a year. I have provided that and just got everything sent over wed. I am really scared and wanted to know if anyone knows about Assurant Health insurance and if you think that I have a better chance of approval this time around. The people I have talked to either have not heard of them or do not know much about their approval process. Thought I would give it a shot here, I need some info.

Thank you
Trisha

Im sorry to say that I dont know much about Assurant health but I do think that if they denied you the first time because they wanted the 6  month diet and more weight history, then just that would tell me you have a good chance.  I mean, they didnt deny because of an exclusion. So, thats just my two cents!  Good luck!

Did you send in your insurance stuff yourself-or did you go through a surgeon?  Just wondering.  I want to take over getting my approved but have talked with Bariatric office and all.  I can't get them to get back with me-not super receptive folks :)

I actually am working with Barix Clinic and their insurance department is handling everything and I have been pleased with the results of how she is handling it. I actually appealed the denial because she said that I would have a good chance the second time around.

What was your timeline for the denial and appeal process that you have experienced?
