Two surgeries/one self pay/one insurance

I read somewhere that sometimes a surgeon will do a surgery, such as gall bladder at the same time as the WLS.  If a person would be self pay for the WLS, but insurance would pay for the GB, is the WLS less expensive?

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I don't know the answer to your question but that is a funny quote on the bottom of your page!  Love it!

Probably depends on how it is billed -

If it GB removal is done for a symptomatic condition - then they may pay a portion of it.  But if it is done as a preventative measure due to the WLS surgery, then they probably would not.

I don't know the exact answer for you but my surgeon proposed that we look into it if my gallbladder had looked bad and would need to be removed...however (fortunately I guess) everything looked ship shape so I am still going forward with self pay

Good luck!

I actually posted something like this a while back, however it wasn't my gallbladder. I currently have the lapband and want it removed to revised to VSG. My insurance company will pay for the removal, but not the VSG. I will be paying the difference directly to my surgeon. It does bring the cost down, because I will have my anesthesia, OR room, etc. paid for by the insurance for the removal. Funny thing is, I never would have thought of this until a friend of mine said she got her "boobs" done while having her gallbladder out....!
