Hello anyone,

I go to my last weight in on 12-21-09 then I will be finish my program. I have Aetna pos high as my insurance. They require me to have 2 years of being overwieght  gratefully I dont have any health issues just overweight Im trying to stop it before I start to but I only have me being overweight from 2007 but they also want 2008 which i cant find because I dont get sick and did not need to go to the doctor I went early part of this year in Feb do anyone think that it will matter if I had that or not. Will they deny my approval because of me not having any weight history from 2008? Anyone who know what I can do pls HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!

Thanks

I have Aetna and was approved, however, a friend of mine just got denied for the very same reason you are writing about.  She was missing a weight and from one of the several years she has been morbidly obese.

She has since went back to her PCP and had him write a letter verifying her weight although she did not offially weigh in during that year.  She has filed an appeal and is hoping to get the denial overturned.

Do you have anything from 2008....anything at all where you weighed in?  Weigh****chers, OB GYN, emergency room??

Good luck to you!!

okay I thank you for your response. I called my doctors office they advised me to just get everything showing my weight back from 05,06,07 and i have something from the beginning of 09 and submit a picture from 08 and we will send it to the insurance company. If your friend gets approved let me know and do she have Aetna POS as well?

Oh if you have a picture that would be great!  That just might work along with an explaination from the Dr office.  I'll let you know if i hear when/if she's approved.

Good luck to you!

From what I understand, Aetna will deny if you don't have a documented weight history.  I've heard of some people getting approved with photos from the time period.\

Did you go to ANY doctor in 2008?  The insurance coordinator with my surgeon's office said that Aetna will usually take documentation from any kind of doctor.  Even if your eye doctor happened to weigh you, that should count as documentation.  Did you go to the ER or minor care clinic?  Did you have any labs drawn, go to a health screening at work, or donate blood?  Think of anywhere you may have documented your weight - so many forms and applications require it.  Even if you weren't weighed and you just listed your weight on a form, it's better than nothing.  The insurance coordinator told me that one patient had her driver's lisence renewed and had to list her weight on the form and brought that in as documentation.  Did you have any prescriptions filled that year?  Often pharmacists will document weight somewhere in your chart.

One form from a non-medical source will likely not suffice for documention, but if you can get enough proof from various sources of your weight for 2008, in cluding pictures, it may just be enough.
