Approved with UHC
Just wanted to pass this along so that others with UHC (understanding that all policies are different) will know. I was approved in relatively short order--like five days. I has submitted nine years of doctors notes along with my Weigh****chers records from this January through July when I attended my seminar two weeks ago.
I have a BMI of around 40 and I have diabetes and high blood pressure. I was contacted on Thursday by the surgeon's office to advise me of the approval. I go in on Thursday for my one on one consult with my doctor. Woo hoo!

You won't find much information (basically none!) online and, quite honestly, I wasn't able to gleen much over the phone either. It wasn't until my doctor submitted the paperwork that we new for certain.
She can for sure find out if her employer has an exclusion. They can tell her (UHC) if her plan covers bariatric surgery. If it does, UHC started covering the sleeve in early October. Some plans require the patient to undergo a six month supervised diet plan. Not sure if mine did or not as I submitted six months worth of Weigh****chers data when I went to my doctors seminar.
Good luck!

Sorry I'm replying so late. Just listen and follow the doc's orders. I'm sure you will do fine. Get more tips from the VSG forum.

I am so glad you posted this! I also have UHC and just got my paperwork in today to file for approval. I am so glad that they cover the sleeve!! That is what I was hopeing for, but I would settle for RNY if I had to for insurance since I can't afford to pay out of pocket. You have given me hope that mine will be approved. Thanks!!
