I hope this is not true!!
So I think I have come upon a problem. As you all know (and are probably tired of hearing about), I am in the 3rd or 4th month (depending on if my doc lets me use my first inquiry as my first month) of my six month weight loss program to get approved. My doc put me on the ADA diet (american diabetes asscoiation), but I was reading on OH and I saw somebody say that BCBS of AL does not accpet the ADA diet cuz it helps with diabetes, not obesity. Has anyone else heard of this? I am glad I saw that now that way I can have my doc change the diet in her notes. What diet did your doc put you on when you were on your 6 month diet? THANKS!!!

Just have you Dr change her notes too say you are on a low fat low carb, 1000 to1200 calorie diet. Also make sure she is putting in her notes that you are exercising like walking, riding a bike, swimming etc. for 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week. I think you will be ok. Good Luck.
P.S. That is what the nutritionist put in her notes for me.

And don't forget to make sure they are documenting that you are exercising/walking, etc. like the other poster said. That is part of the plan.
PS - My ins (Highmark BCBS) counted my 1st visit (inquiry visit) as part of the 6-month diet...but my dr went ahead & documented there for me start with low fat/low cal diet & to start walking daily. They also included my weight loss attempts in the notes on that visit.
Good luck! The time will go by faster than you think...
