Question about 6 month diet...
So I was talking to somebody on OH and they told me that when they started their 6 months supervised weight loss diet their doc included the previous month that she went in. Even though it wasnt for weight loss they still documented all the info needed for insurance purposes. (Ht, wt, bmi, etc) So that knocked her down to 5 months.....
Anyway my question is I started my 6 months in Aug, but I went in on the 24th of July to ask my doc questions about the surgery. So she documented my info in that visit. So even if I officially started my diet on Aug 8 can she still document July's visit as the first month? (I know its only like 2 weeks, but the doc's visit was in the next month)??? OMG I hope I didnt confuse anybody! Thanks for your responses as always!
I went to the Dr on April 15th and they submitted my paperwork on Sept 23rd. I felt like that was only 5 months also. Cigna approved me in 2 days. Ask the insurance person in the surgeons office to summit it the paper work in Dec. Good Luck on you diet.
I see you got some use out of the information. LOL
Yeah, your doc "could" use July as part of your 6 mo supervised diet. The paperwork is basically relative! So I would have them submit my info in December! What the hay, if it doesn't work you only have to go to January!
Good luck hun,
Prin
Haha! It was you that I talked to about it! Yeah I called my insurance company a few minutes ago and they said that even though July 24th- Aug 8th is not a full month that it doesnt matter because its two separate months! That made my day!! So I am going to take you ladies advice and submit my paperwork in Dec after that appt! Thanks so much! I hope I am as lucky as you!
I saw some people's insurance required 180 days, not just 6 months.
I called my insurance and asked if it was 6 months or 180 days. They said 6 consecutive months. I have seen some posts were people were told by the insurance that it had to be 180 from first PCP visit to the last.
So, I would call your insurance. Good luck!
So yeah, ask her... I went in thinking my Dr would not count those months (i was there for a few things each month prior) and she in fact brought it up because each visit we talked about my weight... so it made sense...
good luck
