Freaking out !!!!!!
I have done everything required by my surgeon so far: upper GI, bloodwork, psych eval, nutritionist eval, and meet all the requirements to be eligible for surgery under my insurance: BMI @ 42.6 with arthritis in my back and knees and possible sleep apnea (will have study results on Monday), plus I provided my 5 year obesity weight history. But there's a problem. The surgeon required a letter of clearance from my PCP. I went to my PCP and after listening to a long schpeil of why I should refrain from having surgery, she agreed to write the letter in my favor. Three days passed and the letter had not been faxed to my surgeon. It was like pulling teeth to get that letter sent. Finally, they faxed it after I called like a thousand times (I'm sure they were trying to avoid another annoying phone call from me). Well, they faxed the doctor a letter but would not fax me a copy because they don't fax to patiets (whatever!). My surgeon received the faxed letter on Tuesday and I received my mailed letter today. My BMI is 42.6 and the letter said it is 40.1. Ahhh! Should I be concerned because it doesn't match what the surgeon has in his file? It is over 40 regardless, but I'm just afraid it will cause unnecessary issues. I don't dare call the doctor to get it corrected because the medical assistant is an incompetent rude woman who is clearly in the wrong profession and whenever I call, they always transfer me to her.
Help!!!! Should I worry?

I agree with Teresa - wait to see if they (ins) say something. When I submitted my paperwork, the nutritionist's notes had my name as "BJ" rather than "DJ" ALL through her notes. I stressed for about 2 sec. Then said What the Heck - faxed it & figured they'd call me if they took issue with it. I called ins today & found out I was approved!!
Good luck!

So, I called my surgeon's office yesterday to find out where they were in the process; they won't submit for insurance approval until the doctor sings off on the paperwork. I was told that he signed off and the paperwork would be submitted on Monday.
That's one down and one to go. The doctor apparently didn't care that my doctor put the wrong BMI, so I hope it's the same case with my insurance company.
Cross your fingers!!!!!
Thanks for all your words of support. They helped me calm down a lot. :o)
