Frustrated!
Ok this is more to vent but if anyone has ideas that may help me I am VERY open to them! I went back in May or June to a weight loss seminar and scheduled my appointment with the doctor and test and that went well. Had my visit with the psychologist an it went well but my care credit would only loan us $12,500 for the surgery. I've tried to get other insurance companies to cover us since ours will not and they say since we are overweight we have a pre-existing condition and when we lose the weight then we can apply again. Ok well I'm no brain surgeon but I need to have the surgery done to lose the weight but no one will cover it so how can they say that "when I lose the weight re-apply". Okay then my mother-in-law went with me to the seminar with NO intentions on having it done, hates having surgery is terrified she will not make it through, yeah she decides to have it done and with her being on disability she is 100% covered. It makes me so frustrated because yes she needs to have it done, but if you knew the whole story behind the disability you would say I had a right to be upset. I know that a lot of my problem is I am jealous. I mean I was right there getting ready to get a date for surgery and I am $7500 shy Of having it done. I just want to cry! Well thanks for letting me vent!!!!!
Ok breath... and dont give up just yet :)
First off... I have a mother in law that there are just no words for... she will never know I'm having this done for so many reasons, But I 100% get that part, trust me!
second off... You are only in need of $7500 I know that is a big number, but come on over half of it is covered with your care credit loan :) that is a plus
Now what I would do is start to ask surgeons what they charge specific ins companies and ask for that rate, then I would start to ask for dr's and hospitals to work with me because I was self pay. There a tons of people who have had it done for 13,000 wtih great dr's and great hospitals... shop outside your home town if you have to. I live in NJ, about 14 minutes outside of NYC and I could have it done around 15,000 cash with my dr and my hospital...
YOU CAN DO IT!!! start to neg with dr.s... for the first time I called a credit company and told them I wanted a lower APR... I started to negotiate with them and won... it went down more than half!!!
Good luck, and keep pushing, you'll get it :)
