Approval letter
Hi Im new to this site, so I really hope Im using this forum correctly. I have all the requirements for the surgery. I have a Bmi of 44, I am insulin resistant from the weight, more than likely have sleep apnea. I did have been on many diet programs with doctors, with personal trainers, prescription diet pills. Heres My questions.
One- do I need to find a doctor frist before submitting a approval letter.
two- What should a approval letter consist of and sound like? Do I need to find proof of my diet programs and pills for that approval letter? IF my proof hasent been too recent, will that effect it.
I would appreciate the help on this. I dont know what Im doing at all on getting this all started.

hello...i am just starting all of my tests..well actually i have my last one tomorrow. This is how I got started. First I called my insurance and asked if they approved the surgery i wanted. Then i called the Dr. i wanted to go to . Then they told me i had to go to a seminar. At the seminar i got paper work and filled them out. they called for my appointment date. I got a list of test i had to have done. and that i were im at now. anything else i can help u with let me know. it is an exciting journey!! lol....i cant wait to get my approval and surgery date!!
What kind of insurance do you have because that's amazing. I never figured they would do that because I hear a lot of negative things from people saying that when they call the insurance co dont like sharing information with them. They say that the insurance co tells them to have their doctor call. So, you are blessed to have a good insurance co like that.

Like Shellrae72 said, you need to call your insurance and see if they cover the surgery you want. You probably will not have a problem with the RNY or Lap Band. If you want a VSG that might be a problem, it was with my insurance. Anyway, once you know what surgery you want. Call the doctor's office and see about making an appointment. They might say you have to go to a seminar. There at the seminar they will explain what needs to be done. More than likely, your doctor's office will do the submitting to your insurance and get that done for you. Best wishes and most of many blessings to you.
