Aetna HMO (waiting, waiting and waiting)

I called Aetna this morning (I simply could not help myself).  The woman I talked to said that the status is still pending and that I need to allow 30 days for an answer.  (sigh)     It was 2 weeks yesterday that my packet was submitted...I really thought I'd have an answer by now.  In the past when I spoke to Aetna they said it took up to 2 weeks for a determination.  Now I'm told 30 days.  As all of you know, this waiting is very difficult. 

I'm afraid that since it's taking so long they are more apt to deny than to approve.  I know that's just my mind wandering and being negative.   

I feel stagnant...like I just cannot get on with my life until I have an answer...

I can empathize with you completely.  I have been turned down twice by my Insurance Company  Untied Health Care on contractual grounds.  However I have filed a complaint with the Health Education and Advocacy Unit here in MD and am waiting to hear from them.  Waiting makes you feel stalled and makes you mind wander.  WHich of course makes you begin to think negative thoughts.  Don't give up, Sometimes the virtue of patience pays off.

I wish you success in getting your approval so you can move forward.

Thanks for sharing your story.  You are right...waiting make you feel very stalled.  I wish you so much luck in your journey and I'm glad that you are fighting for your rights.  Please keep me posted...I'll keep you in my prayers.  You deserve it and your time will come!  I just know it!

I have some good news...I just received a call from my surgeon's office and I've been approved.
