ugh having problems with atena HMO**

Don't know what the asterisk means behind my coverage HMO**  but I went to a consultation today for a doc and found out that they aren't covered by aetna. That was understandable, but it's what she told me that kinda got my wheels spinning. She states that since there is no surgeon in a 100 mile radius (according to doc find), I would have to get a letter in writing stating that they would approve a out of network doc, if they don't have one available and if I didn't I would be responsible for the bill (don't want that). She also informed me that they will provide me a list of docs who are in network to use (I wasn't able to locate one i tried everything). Has anyone every had this problem I'm gonna be on the site for awhile so feel free to add or subtract to this. Even though I just wanted a consult with this doc and he was one of the ones I would choose from, I would like to know for future references so when I decide on Mr/Mrs. right whomever they may be I won't have to worry because I know what I need to do the less delays the better, It's bad enough I gotta jump through hoops to have this done, but I'm willing as long as I know I stand a shot to get this covered (according to my carrier it's covered but they prefer in network docs only).

Im not sure where in jersey you are... Where are you looking for the dr to be from, but My dr I do believe takes Atena. Also, If you wanted I believe so does another dr I know that is great.... One is out of St. Clare's in Dover and the other out of Hackettstown Hospital...
Cigna states that I have to use a wls surgeon and that it has to be a center for excellence so I cannot use Dr. Jabush out of hackettstown, but he is a great great great dr... and Hackettstown hospital is a great place to be. I am using Dr Garrison and he was used by my sister... He is wonderful!!! LOVE HIM :) He loves what he does and enjoys it 100%... I'm so excited that he is going to be doing my RNY...
