I live in michigan and my husband is deployed to afghanistan for the second time , I have tricare I have already had the RNY  about 6 years ago Before I met my husband I had bcbs of michigan it paid for everything 100% . I lost 168 lbs  I was originally 330 lbs  I got pregnant 2 years ago  and gained alot of my  weight back  I have done everything  to keep it off and it just keeps coming back on I called my original surgeons office  when i got pregnant  and they told me there was nothing they could do I shouldnt have gotten pregnant.  No support at all from one of the top surgeons in michigan . I want to get a revision done as my diabetes are back in full force and my blood pressure is totally out of control once again . I need to know if anyone knows of a  surgeon in michigan that excepts tricare . I keep coming to a dead end

Ok, here is where the fun starts with Tricare.....

First link above is for surgeons in Michigan
Second link is for a Dr. Nizzi in Traverse City, if you look under insurers you will see that he had a patient with Tricare....that is a start, and oh he does revisions.  Call his office and double check that they take Tricare

Third link if for finding providers in the Tricare system....but, Dr. Nizzi is not an in network provider.   Do some cross checking between the surgeons listed on OH and the provider listing for Tricare....under General Surgery.  If you can not find one here is what you need to do.

First, I do not know if you need a referral from your PCM but if you do...then get one and in most cases they will have a surgeon listed who is in network.  If you do not need a referral, then I would contact Tricare, and explain that you have RNY and need to see a surgeon for some followup care that is out of your PCM's range of knowledge.  Explain you have located a surgeon who does accept Tricare, but is not in network and request that this be treated as in network as there are non in the area that do....

Here is the start....

Now, have you had any follow up as to why you continue to gain weight?  Have you gone back to basics, i.e.; no drinking 30 mins before and after meals, are you taking you vitamins, are you getting protien first, and eleminating simple carbs (rice, bread, pasta)?  Are you tracking your calories, and watching your portions....I know I am sounding like a mom, but these are things to do while doing the dance with Tricare, if you have not already done so.  I wish you luck
