Anyone appeal to BCBS Personal Choice for VSG?

I've been lurking here for a while, but am coming out of hiding to ask about insurance issues. My surgeon warned me that this would be a fight, and he was right. I was denied by Personal Choice.  I have a medical condition that precludes any malabsorptive procedures, and I was hoping that would be enough. But no - the VSG is experimental, they say. Does anyone have any hints for me when I appeal?
