Self pay question
I cannot get a straight answer from my insurance company, so I hope someone out there might know.....
If I choose to be self-pay (my insurance company (Humana) covers the surgery, but only after a 6mos medically supervised diet) and something happens after the surgery that is related to the surgery and requires hospitalization will that stay be covered by insurance? I am trying to avoid a catestrophic medical expense for my family.
Thanks for any info y'all can provide.

Why are you going to self pay if insurance covers it after the 6 month medically supervised diet? If you self pay and then have problems they may not cover you. But if insurance pays for the surgery and you have complications they will cover you. Make sense?
I am going through the 6 month diet and exercise myself and it is going by pretty fast 2 more months to go. Good Luck

I would do the 6 month diet. I was a self pay and had some problems, a week after surgery I spent the day in the ER getting fluids and test done, then around July 22 I had the scope thing done to check my stoma hole, he stretched it but perforated my bowl and I had to spend a week in the hospital. Now I owe so much money, so please do the 6 month diet and just take your days off before the end of the year and enjoy how you are now, cause there is no going back.
