Just wanted to post that I got approval from my insurance for the vertical sleeve gastrectomy!  The insurance flat out said to me and my Dr.'s office that they wouldn't pay and not only did they approve it but I got the approval in less than a week.  Just FYI in case this helps anyone :)

was it listed as a experimental ?

The policy states that it won't cover any wls unless medically necessary.  When I called though- they did cover the lap band and the rny-NOT the sleeve.  My Dr. told his insurance person to submit the claim anyway and they approved it.  Go figure.

Do you have bcbs Federal?  What cpt code did your claim have for the VSG?
