My daughter has UHF and they are now telling her the 6 month requirement also. However that policy became effective july1 and she had been for everything already, just didn't have the approval from UHF. I want to know how to appeal this. Does anyone know of someone I can pay to backdate nutrition notes, I know that's bad, but hey I think UHF waited on her approval until this policy went into effect. Any help???

I think it just depends on what requirements are written into your health care plan. It seems like the insurance company decides, but your employer controls some of the requirements based on what kind of plan they select for their employees. So even though I'm sure there are many surgeons who will do surgery if you're under 21, you're kind of at the mercy of the requirements of your own specific insurance plan.

Hi I have United Healthcare Choice plus all of my documentation was submitted on Tuesday and they called me today with an approval (It only took 3 days!!!)  for the Gastric Bypass no 6 month diet needed , I think it depends on the type of plan you have! Good Luck!!
