You don't need pre-cert but it's pending

ARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

FEP-BC/BS  will approve.  I don't see why this takes so darn long.  it was sent in nearly 2 weeks ago for both my husband and myself.

since we are staying overnight, we don't need prior approval or pre-cert.   but the status for the authorization still shows as pending.

I asked to speak to the pre-cert department and I'm told NO... not an option.


any input?

Keep calling them every day.... Did they send a request for pre-determination????   Look on the back of your card to see if there is a pre cert number and call them yourself they can not deny you the ability to talk to pre cert department

I have asked for a supervisor I was told they could take my name and have one call me back in 48 hours.

I got the number or pre-cert and it's a recording.  you can leave a message and they will get back to you in 48 hours.


it was sent in for authorization (not that it's needed with BC/BS-FEP and in patient hospitaization).

i'll call the doctor's office on Monday.  I was told ONLY the doctor or hospital can call.   

the person i spoke to on Friday told me: 

"i'm not supposed to tell you but the one on the 18th was approved but not the one on the 25th"

when I asked her if the one on the 25 was denied or they just had not gotten to it she hemmed and hawed and admitted she didn't ask  about the second one because she didn't realize they were two different things I was asking about.  Basically told me that no answer I got from her was worth considering.

Be persistent and call back and ask for the supervisor and tell them you don't want a call back and if they don't get a supervisor on the phone you will call OPM(Office of Personnel Management) in DC and I bet you they will get you a supervisor.

I serviced the FEP Blue in KY IN and OH for 10 years as a supervisor so they will give believe me they do not like the customers to call OPM.  If you need any help let me know

Ah even though I am in MD our stuff comes out of KY... I will try that on Monday!

Ask to speak with a supervisor in Cust. Serv or Precert

I called and told them:

"look you work for me"
"if you don't get me a supervisor I will call OPM the number is xxx-xxx-xxxx"

I hold in my hand two authorization codes that were issued on 7/31!

Told you   yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always use that phrase if you need to get anywhere with FEP  lol.
