$4,000 Lapband fills!!

I had lapband and the first year I did not have to pay anything for fills they were covered 100% due to meeting deductibles and 3,000 for year.  So I did not even get a bill last year for the 5 fills I had under xray.  January comes around and I have a fill under xray and I am just now getting bill, the hospital billed $972 but the insurance paid over $3,000 and they say my $300 deductible and 20% is $1,032  that is more then the hospital billed!!!!  They say it is the contracted amount and the hospital can bill anything they want but the insurance has to pay the contracted amount???? I have filed an appeal with Cigna, any advise or help with this, $1,032 is my part and it is way to high???

Wow that doesn't sound right.   You did the right them appealing to Cigna.

You need to make sure they used the correct cpt code.  Hospitals never bill under the contract amt!

They did not bill contracted amount, they billed $900 and contracted amount was like $4,000 and that is what insurance paid!!  HELP

Well I heard back from insurance on my appeal and they denied it and stand by there decision! I now how my husbands company employee services involved, they said they never heard of anything like this.
