insurance waiting period
The previous post is correct - if you submit before your coverage begins than it could be considered pre-existing. If you have a 90 day waiting period then you will be automatically be denied if Aetna's requirements are not met and I doubt your surgeon will send in the paperwork before the 90 days have passed. It's well worth the 90 days that you have to wait in order to have coverage.
Yes, I also have Aetna and am a little over half way through the 90 day multidisciplinary program. There is so much to learn about your life after WLS. Not only does the 90 days fufill insurance requirements, it also gives you a chance to learn about the lifelong changes that you are going to have to make. It gives you a chance to shop around for protrein supplements, vitamins, etc. that you like. Plus, you'll have so many appointments and tests that are required from Aetna that the 90 days will be over in the blink of an eye.
I felt the same way. I thought 90 days seemed like an eternity but I am so thankful that it is required of me. I've learned so much about diet, nutrition, protein, vitamins, exercise, etc. that I feel so well equipped for my life after WLS.
Good luck!
