Five year medical history

Me again with more issues!  Shocker, I know! :-P

I was a college student who lived an hour and a half away from my folks and the hospital that used their insurance, so my five year history is limited because I avoided the doctor at all costs.  I only have a few records that actually have my weight on them and they're from 2006-now.  Then there's one from 2003, but the insurance said they won't look at anything past the 5 year bracket.

So......do you think my chances of getting "approved" for the surgery are limited because my not having enough records for that timeframe?  I put approved in brackets because my insurance won't give me pre-approval.  They're just saying "your policy covers the surgery so long as you meet the criteria...here's the criteria."  So...we're trying to make sure that we have all of our ducks in a row so they can't find anything that could jeopardize insurance paying for it.  Once my insurance coordinator feels secure about it, she'll finally schedule me for surgery.  Ugh!

I definately think they would call you on the medical history. You might try WWW.obesitylaw.com. Sometimes it just takes someone else to "put the fear of God" in them. They have told me a lot of winning is wording of the policy. It can't be ambiguous or confusing. They will take your info and see if they can help before taking your money. They also have flexible payment plans. I used them and was very pleased with the service, but didn't win because my ins has an exclusion clause. I am now checking into filing a civil lawsuit.
Good luck,
Holly

I know that my insurance wanted my weight each year for the past 5 years. I haven't gone to my PCP every year...HOWEVER if you've gone to maybe one of the urgent care centers, you should be able to request the records from those if you went even once during those years, it should have how much you weighed when they weighed you (if your insurance is looking for the same thing mine is!)

Good luck!

My own delima is that I had two years where I didn't go to the dorctor because I didn't have health insurence, so this is what I wrote:

"My average weight for 2005 was 239 with a BMI of 36.93, in 2006 and 2007 I gained a significant amount of weight to about 260/265, see my pictures for reference (I did not have health insurance those two years). In 2008 my average weight was 218 with a BMI of 33.23; this was result of a spring diet that I tried with Atkins/Alli. In 2009 my average weight now is 250 with a BMI of 38.  As you can see my weight has yo-yoed significantly over the past years."

I don't know if this will pass muster though, and it is stressing me.  I have had diabedies since 2005, so have a five year history of that.
