Florida individual insurance???
Hey good people! First time posting on this forum, but am looking for some help anywhere. I currently work for BCBSFL and carry their insurance for my family, but they have all WLS excluded from their employee group. Hubby's employer uses United Healthcare and so I contacted them yesterday, gave them DH's employee group number and all the CSR could tell me was WLS wasn't included, but she didn't see any exclusions. She was unable to clarify that for me, so I'm confused. If UHC has it totally excluded then I'm researching individual insurance and want to know if anyone in Florida has gotten outside insurance that will include the surgery based on med necessity? The only thing I'm reading is that people could be denied individual coverage by insurer's based on their weight all together. I think that's discrimination, but, hopefully it will change. TIA!!
