Denied for VSG....again!

Ok, I was looking forward to getting VSG but I received my letter of denial yesterday. The funny thing about it is that my case was just sent to a case manager after sitting since 05/21/09, on Friday 6/19/09 the same day that's on the letter of denial! So now I am just going to go for the RNY instead. My letter says that I met the qualifications for Bariactric surgery but just not medically necessiary for VSG. Sooo **** that I am going to go ahead and get RNY! I could have been in surgery by now and half way skinny...lol I am a fighter but a good fighter know when and how to pick their battles! I will look forward to seeing everyone when I get to the loser's bench hopefully before my 30th B-day this year!

I agree completely! It is like beating a dead horse! I have been fighting an exclusion to WLS on my policy for a year! The next thing to do is a civil trial and while I am checking into that< I am also masking arrangements to self pay. Good luck!

Thanks but the 1st time I got the denial and I was like no I am going to go straight for RNY people were like fine let the insurance company ditact your life and how you live it. Well, I am cool with RNY because I started out wanting that procedure and at least I do know it's covered. I can not afford to self pay....I am saving that for my cosmetics!

The sad fact of the matter is that the insurance co's DO dictate our lives in respect to what they will cover. I,too, would take the RNY and be glad I could get it covered. It is all about using the tool anyway.  Hopefully,by the time I need cosmetics I will have the RNY loan paid off!

In away I guess that's true but honestly if they were denying me both surgeries, because I really didn't have a preference, then I would be on it and feeling that way but I just figured it was at least a try and I try to keep in mind that it's for the best because had I asked for RNY first I probably would have either had the surgery already or would be having it early July! Now I know I will be thinking about a loan for comestics because I want to get my Beyonce on sooner than later and that's going to be harder for me to prove to the insurance company plus a lady here said they paid for it but they wouldn't put her belly button where it belonged because that was considered comestic rather than a necessity! I think they lowered it just a little but shoot I want to get mine pierced! She is already in her late forties to fifties and I will be barely 30 to 31....it's time for me to get my movie star on! Honestly I try to have a good attitude either way because I know it's coming! Good luck with that loan!
