Vicki B---need help again

Hey Vicki!

I'm extremely frustrated.  I've done all of my pre-surgery requirements.  They sent in all of that to my insurance (BCBS of Mississippi) on May 22nd.  It went to the Texas office (not really sure what that means) since I live in Texas and they sent it to the MS office June 3rd.  Called BCBS yesterday and called again today and got the same answer both times.....they've received everything, but they won't send a letter of approval--they don't do letters of approval---all they can do is send a copy of the medical policy to the surgeon's office.  So, I was a bit more persistent this time with my questions and asked "okay, when are they going to send that then" and he said he had no way of knowing. 

I talked to Kelly, my insurance pre-approval lady from the surgeon's office who's been very nice and helpful, yesterday and she said they need that letter of approval.  To me, it's a letter of approval, but also a letter of security saying "you've done what you need to, we will pay for this"...you know?!?! 

How do I go about getting that letter if everytime I call they say they don't do one?  Or maybe I'm wrong and when they send the medical policies and stuff they're giving the okay and that's all we need?!  I feel bad continuing to bug Kelly because I'm afraid she's going to tell me the same thing today that she told me yesterday about needing the letter and that she hasn't gotten anything yet.

Arg! Any help you could offer would REALLY be appreciated.

When the doctors office submitted, how long did you wait before you called the insurance company the first time just to check on the progress of your pre certification.

I dont want to be a pain the the butt, I just want to call them the insurance and find out what the status is.

I waited until Tuesday, the 9th...and then I called again the next day just to clarify. 

 

Thank you Gilmore for looking out for me while I was away.  yes just got in 14 hours in a car. yuck.  Ok I really think you need to call the Insurance and demand to speak to a supervisior explain that all medical information has been sent and that you want the approval or denial in black and white and not this maybe or send the medical policy you need a clear cut and dry black and white
