Could use pointers on getting BCBS to pay for VSG

I have BCBS of MN.  My insurance policy states that VSG is considered investigational and is not covered... but later on, it states that they will consider the DS or VSG for patients who have a bmi > 50 and significant comorbitities.

I have neither a BMI > 50 nor comorbitities... but I think the VSG is the best procedure for me!  I would appreciate any tips or advice on getting BCBS to pay for a VSG for me.  If anyone has successfully appealed a denial for this procedure, I would love to hear what your approach was.
