united health care APPROVED!

 hey guys I called them today and they said i t had just been approved for june 5th! im sooooo happy!

I was just wondering over here to post the same thing.  I was also approved by UHC for the VSG on june 5th...how bizarre...i guess they sat down and did a batch of approvals, LOL!

May I ask what state governs your health insurance?  The reason for the inquirey is that I have UHC and mine is governed by the state of California and I live in Maryland.

Wow, I wish I could get approved for VSG. I have UHC and I am going to be submitting next month for the RNY. I just do not want to take any chances.

Sure, I live in Texas but the insurance is out of my husband's company in NY.   There was not a weight loss exclusion, but I did think that I would have to fight for the VSG.  I was ready for a fight, and nothing materialized.  My BMI is 37, I am not sure exactly what the dr's office submitted...I did give them 5 yrs of weight records, but that was it.  They didn't ask for a 6 month dr supervised weightloss program (even though when I called, they said it was required)  We submitted the info and two weeks later, they approved it.

Thanks for the response, I do look for a fight with the insurance co.  But I do have a lot of good ammunition and my employer is looking into getting a rider for wls exclusion.  So when I hear something everyone will know be it good or bad.

I have UHC insurance.  I just found out today from a co-worker that they have a 12 month waiting period on pre-existing conditions   So now I am worried about this whole thing... I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I got my insurances and I am sure if I went to enough doctors I could get another condition diagnosed that would not be pre-existing??? I don't know what I should do.  Do any of you have any suggestions????

I was denied by Univera for the RNY. I live in NY. They said I had to abstain from alcohol for 6 months, but there policy states you only need to abstain if your psych says you are an abuser which I am not. SO I am fighting it but I am VERY upset!

I have UHC as well.  May I ask what you submitted?  Were you afraid of your nurse who was assigned to you?  I am so scared to talk to her, and that I will say the wrong thing!!!

You said they approved you without the 6mo. records even though at first they said they wanted it?

Any input will help my nerves!
