Someone told me you can't get health insurance after WLS.

Is this true?

LOL, if it was true, i am sure that people wouldn't have such a hard time getting approved.  Think about it...if they paid for surgery, then they wouldn't have to pay for anything else.

I've never ever been asked on any of my policies if I've had wls.

It is true.  If you try to get health insurance on a private plan, you will be denied because of WLS.  Not sure how long that lasts after WLS.  I think I remember someone saying at least 5 years, but I'm not sure.

Doesn't make any sense since the vast, vast majority of people are HEALTHIER after WLS.

To get a individual plan after WLS you have to wait 5 years from the date of surgery before a insurance company will underwrite a policy for individuals who have had WLS
