Cigna 6 month super. diet question

I saw my doctor Friday to start my 6 month doc supervised diet.  She didn't tell me to do anything extra besides come in once a month.  Should I document what I am eating and what exercise I'm doing or is just the fact that I am seeing her once month count?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Merika,
I have cigna also. I started my 6 month diet last month. The dietitian told me I wouldn't need to send it to the insurance, but he did said" make sure you don't gain any weight  because the insurance company's will not think you are trying". But you may want to ask you Dr.

Good Luck

I just began this process and my doc did the same thing.  She said to come in once a month and that's it.  I'm going to go back to her this week and ask her to specifically outline what she wants me to do.  I will also make sure that its documented in my file as well.  I don't want to take any chances that the documentation will be screwed up when we go to submit the paperwork to the ins. co.  HTH

Just to let you know... Cigna is aweful to deal with. I was denied my first time and they lost all of my paperwork for my appeal two weeks ago. I hope your experience is better then mine. Good luck

Merika,

Make sure you check cignas criteria for surgery to make sure you qualify.
Good luck.

When I started mine, I was given a form from Cigna that stated what the doctor's notes needed to say.   I ended up switiching ins co, so I didn't actually end up submitting anything, but I would definately call them up for this information.

At my visits, we needed to pick a diet, then I had to tell her how I was following it, as well as any exercise I was doing.

I used www.thedailyplate.com and kept a log so I could show what I was eating, calorie intakes, etc...

Have the dr. document each month everything you are doing to meet your goals . . .
i.e.  frequency and type of exercise, behavior modifications, what kind of eating plan you are following, calorie intake, etc...

Good luck

I did the 6-month diet for CIGNA and did not lose a single pound.  I was approved within a week of them getting all my paperwork.  I went through a program affiliated with my surgeon's office so they knew what they were doing.  I did not have to worry about any of it.  Best wishes!!

I have cigna and I did my 6 moth diet. I had to go a clilic every week for classes and weigh in. I finished mine in march.

Now I am in the waiting process for authorization. My medical group will auth me. but, my cigna requires a dual authorization. So I spoke with the supervisor who sumbits the requests and she sounds very postive that I should not have any problems..

I wish you luck! I hope mine goes very fast and easy too. I have really great coverage untder my policy. My husbands employeer is a huge company.
