Speedong up insurance aproval

Hello,

I have Empire Blue Cross NY Insurance.  I just found out that it usually takes a month for approoval.  Do you know if it is possible to expediate their aproval.  Do you think it will help if I call the insurance company?

It's not likely to speed things up or slow it down either.  At least it didn't for me; I called every 2-3 days while I waited on my approval.  Just remember, you are entitled as a policyholder to call them daily if you so choose.  You are the CUSTOMER, not the other way around.  All they can do is check the status and report what they find, which is usually, "I'm sorry, nothing yet.  Our company has up to 30 days....blah, blah, blah."  Just be polite each time you call.  BCBS does record all calls coming in so there will be a record of your phone calls and who you talked to.  Trust me the real wait is if you have to appeal.  Then it's total silence and no live bodies to answer the phone.  Only the dreaded Voice Mail !   Been there, done that.  But now I'm a week away from surgery.  I promise the wait is worth it.  Good luck to you!
