CA Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance coverage?

I currently have Anthem Blue Cross (California Care) insurance, but as of July 1st, 2009 the school district I work for is switching to Blue Shield of CA.  Has anyone out there had any problems with Blue Shield covering weight loss surgery expenses?  My referrel to see the surgeon and get the ball rolling was approved within one day, but from here...does it get worse or stay the same, as in will they pick up the tab for weight loss surgery?  Any help I can be given is greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and help me out!

 

I have fought with kaiser for the last 5 or so years, and in Nov08 i finally gave up and swithched to blue shield. They have been saints. My doctor is a prince and my surgeon is great. Im just waiting for my surgery date.  I saw my primary in jan, pre approved in feb my orientation was march 6th, got all my appointments done ASAP  and was approved the 6th of may. I couldnt have made a better choice.

Hi Jeannie2482!  Thank you so much for replying to my post, I truly appreciate it.  I went to a lecture last night regarding my future bypass surgery (I hope) and they answered a bunch of my insurance questions there.  If they had only had a lecture prior to my post, huh?  Anyway, I truly appreciate your response, it makes me hopeful.
