I should update my information on my profile.  My referral is with Dr Chris Mann with Southern Surgical Associates.

I know where your coming from....about staying anywhere 5 years at a time.   Our first 6 years of marriage we PCSed 4 times from the east coast, west coast, back to the east coast.  We have been fortunate enough to be in J'ville for a little while now, but I figure we did our time, and we needed a good break.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both, And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could, To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there, Had worn them really about the same,   And both that morning equally lay, In leaves no step had trodden black, Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh, Somewhere ages and ages hence:  two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.---Robert Frost

I had surgery 3 months ago and have Tricare Prime. I did not have to have a 5 year history for approval. All you have to do is meet the requirements. If you don't have any co-morbidities have your doctor do a glucose test, sleep study, or anything else that may find a co-morbidity. Tricare will pay for all the tests if you get a referral. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and mild sleep apnea through this process. Those diagnoses combined with slightly high blood pressure and PCOS was enough to get an approval with in 2 days of submission.  The only other suggestion I would make is to make sure you make copies of all of your paperwork including test results and keep a master file for yourself.

Your surgeon's office may be saying you need a 5 year history as a standard practice for most insurance. That way they cover their bases with all their patients and insurance.

Good luck,
Amanda
