Hello, is there anyone familar with getting approval for VSG with Pacificare CAlifornia? I met with the surgeon yesterday and he said he will be submitting to my insurance for approval of the VSG for me, however I am not that familar with Pacificare's approval on any surgery let alone VSG. I just want to get a head start incase they do not approve me for VSG because I do not want the Band and would be ok with the RNY. The surgeon asked why I would prefer the VSG instead of the Lap Band and I said because it was a median of the RYN and Lap Band. So I am just wondering if there is anyone out there that has had experience with this particular insurance in California. Please advise!

I don't have Pacificare, but I have UHC EPO (which is similar and I think bought Pacificare)....

All they told me is that I had to also submit medical records showing I was at least a 40 BMI 5 years prior to today. You might want to call Pacificare to clarify their requirements before you submit.
