Peer to Peer Review

Hi everyone!

Just wondered how many people had success with a  peer to peer review with their surgeon and the insurance medical director?

My insurance has not "denied" my surgery but stated that they needed more clinical information.  My surgeon is working on scheduling a peer to peer review.  I am scheduled to have my lap band removed, a hiatal hernia repaired and revision to RnY to treat severe acid reflux with esophageal erosion and ulcerations.  I have United Healthcare Choice plus and my surgery is tentatively scheduled for May 11th.

Any in site anyone has with the success of the peer to peer review process would be greatly appreciated!

I also have united health care choice plus and have not had the paper work submitted for my RnY yet. So I can't give you any insite, how ever I would be greatly interested in hearing how you make out with it.    Please let me know and I am sure that someone here will respond to your question.

Hi, just popping in to make a suggestion that you cross post on the revision board too.  I'm sure there are plenty of people there who have had situations similar to yours.  I know if it was up to me I'd approve you because you definitely have conditions that are exacerbated by the band.  Ouch!  Sorry for the pain and troubles you've had.  Am sending nothing but good vibes your way you get your approval.  I really think a peer-to-peer is the best thing that can happen.  Sounds like they just want to talk doc-to-doc to make sure there aren't any other options for you.
