Worried... Frustrated... any advice?

So recently I got diagnosed with gallstones. They occasionally cause me a LOT of pain and now that I know whats going on I've been told I need to get my gallbladder removed. Gallstones are notorious for occuring in obese women who have lost and gained weight multiple times (ex: me) So I'm wondering if this might be considered a comorbidity that would qualify me for the insurance? Did anyone else have that listed as a comorbidity? Did anyone else get away with a lesser known comorbidity?  Does asthma count?

Currently I am just borderline 35% bmi. I've always considered WLS, especially since seeing my mother go through a successful journey after her RNY surgery.  I just never thought it would ever be possible for me to afford it. The highest BMI I ever had I think was 38. No matter what I do I always float around 35.

Right now I'm scheduled to see my mom's former WLS surgeon about getting my gallbladder taken out (cause he does just gallbladders too) and I plan on talking to him about getting my insurance to cover WLS at the same time, or possibly paying for the difference or something out of pocket. I'm getting really worried about it. I need to get my gallbladder out this summer so that I don't have to miss school and I don't want to have 2 separate surgeries with all the pain and scars associated with each.

It's just so frustrating to me that insurance companies have such a standard for people like me. I have to get sick first before they'll ever consider helping me to become a healthy person. And here I am sick with a problem relating to obesity, and needing surgery anyway, and I might not even qualify for WLS with those criteria. My entire dad's side of the family has type 2 diabetes and I don't want to end up like that, but I know I will someday if I'm left the way I am.

I have Anthem Blue Cross ppo if that helps anyone predict a possible outcome for my situation, or give me advice to help my wls get covered.
Thanks in advance!

Oh and here are a couple sites I found that list gallstones as a comorbidity...

Your best bet is to call your insurance company.  My BCBS of TN policy does not consider gallstones a comorbidity.  I am going to self pay for my VSG because I do not qualify for coverage through my insurance provider.

Good luck!
